Selous, or Nyerere National Park. Ruaha and Mikumi National Park. Oh, and let’s not forget Udzungwa National Park. The southern safari parks of Tanzania are often overlooked in favour of their more famous northern counterparts. But the truth is the southern parks are preferred by safari purists. When you choose to take your safari here, you not only just enjoy the same range of amazing wildlife. Additionally, you get to taste the raw ‘frontier’ nature of the environments themselves. Ultimately, these parks are noticeably less busy than the ones in the north. So, you get to experience these beautiful habitats in a more untouched state. It’s an adventure made more special because of the sense of solitude.

Selous - Mikumi – Udzungwa

 

Day 1 – Dar es Salaam to Selous (173km)

Safari Time: Midday to early evening boat safari. Sleeping at: Africa Safari Selous https://africa-safari.com/africa-safari-selous/ or Selous River Camp (https://selousrivercamp.com/.

Day 2 – Selous

Safari Time: Full day game drive. Sleeping at: Sable Mountain or similar https://www.selousgamereserve.net/sable-mountain-lodge.html.

Day 3 – Selous to Mikumi (260 km)

Safari Time: Early evening game drive in Mikumi. Sleeping at: Vuma Hills or National Park Lodge.

Day 4 (Part One) – Mikumi

Safari Time: Early morning to early afternoon game drive.

Day 4 (Part Two) – Mikumi to Udzungwa (55km)

Sleeping at: Udzungwa Forest Camp (https://www.udzungwaforestcamp.com/) or similar.

Day 5 – Udzungwa

Safari Time: Climb the mountain or go on a walking safari. Sleeping at: Udzungwa Forest Camp (https://www.udzungwaforestcamp.com/) or similar. Note: At the top of the mountain, there’s a pool at the foot of the falls. Naturally, it makes the perfect place to refresh yourself after a long day.

Day 5 (Part Two) – Udzungwa to Morogoro (154km)

Sleeping at: Nashera https://nasherahotel.com-tanzania.com/ or Eldweiss.

Day 6 – Morogoro to Dar es Salaam (197km)

Safari Time: No safari. Sleeping at: Our time has come to an end. Perhaps you might like to look at a beach extension in Zanzibar? Note: If not, we will simply transport you to the airport.
